Most young children are aware of death, even if they don’t understand it. Death is a common theme in cartoons and television, and some of your child’s friends may have already lost a loved one. In our hearts, we all know that death is a part of life. In fact, death gives meaning to our existence because it reminds us how precious life is. Coping With Loss The loss of a loved one is life's most stressful event and can cause a major emotional crisis. Adults and young adults may grieve the same or differently. Many times, young adults grieve young adults basically need the same things younger kids need to help them through their grief: "a safe, nonjudgmental, non-evaluative place to come together with peers who are dealing with similar life circumstances as well as with death.
